If I posted a nude photo of myself as a child, would it be considered distribution of child porn?

I believe child porn laws exist primarily to protect the innocent victims -- namely, the children in the pictures. In this case, there would be no victim, because it would be me, and I'm an adult.

I know some countries don't even allow cartoons depicting child porn, and I imagine anything that encourages pedophilia is a very bad idea, but would this actually be illegal in the US?

By the way, I don't have any plans to do this, nor do I have any urge to be a test case!

When we look at current judicial review of such issues, minors have been prosecuted for distributing child pornography of THEMSELVES. There has been a few cases, I can't remember off the top of my head what was the outcome of the court cases. They usually involve sexting issues.

The issue of Child Porn goes beyond harming a child, it also deals with the age old argument, does pornography promote rape/the acts in the pornography. Now in this case, posting yourself as a child would in some minds promote Child molestation and rape. According to some district attorneys this is the reasoning behind some of the prosecution of minors for distributing photos of themselves (along with actually making other children stop sending photos).

It depends on what you are doing and the circumstances when the picture was taken. Little you at the swimming hole with the cousins isn't likely to get you in trouble. Pictures of you from that special weekend with uncle Steve, might.

Yes. There have been cases of teenagers "sexting" each other and sending dirty pictures of themselves to each other. I can't think of any cases offhand, but it just occurred to me that if I typed in "teenager cell phone child pornography" into my search engine at work, things might not go so well for me.

Anyway. There've definitely been kids who've been prosecuted as sexual predators because they've texted dumb things to other teens, and are now required to register themselves as sexual predators. It's serious stuff. Pretty sure there's even been a Law & Order episode about it.

Are we talking about the classic 'naked child on fur rug' shot? Should be fine.

    Time delayed narcissism? - yes.

Child pr0n? - not really. Just don't a) be a politician doing that, b) sell it online and/or c) send it to a kid or cop in an email
    and you should be fine.

If someone presses the point, tell them you took the pic yourself, when you were a kid (with the timer), and you were too young to prosecute. ;)

I'm tempted to change my avatar to Rev-as-nekkid-baby now. ;)

Without a doubt. Especially if you drew attention to it...for whatever reason...
