Actors: would you sell out (your local cast/show), for your own personal Hollywood ending?

Let's say you're in a local production with a decent role and yet shitty houses...
Hollywood producer comes in and offers you a dream role and a roll of C-notes. Do you quit on the spot for the chance of fame in the movies, or do you stick to your principles and finish the show?

or
(stakes-not-quite-so-high version): you're doing a no pay community theatre show and you have the lead. A paying gig comes up a week before closing - you'd have to leave the no-pay show to get the paying gig. Do you screw the crew/cast of the current show so you can get rent paid (and risk blacklisting), or not?

Why?

As an actor, your job is going to have to be what's best for your career. No one who is serious about becoming a working (paid) actor is ever going to resent you for taking a paying part or a part that advances your career and prospects for future work over a non-paying gig.

You know what show biz is like, right? It's why serious actors who can get them, and can afford it, have agents. It gets messy. It ain't the Peace Corps.

Also, it isn't your fault that whoever is producing the local/community production didn't plan for this possibility by rehearsing an understudy. That's why there's Equity.

Man, it ain't selling out. It's called eating.

Best of luck, Rev, and happy holidays.
