  1 0 If you can track down "Anybody Can Do Anything" by Betty ("The Egg & I") MacDonald, it's a great autobiography about living in Seattle during the Great Depression. She lived just a block south of Roosevelt High School, on 15th NE and spent those years working odd jobs all over the city. There's "Bread, Alone" by Judith Hendricks which is set in '92(remember that steel band that played non-stop in front of Nordstrom?) and "Never Mind Nirvana" by Mark Lindquist, about the Seattle music scene right at the height of grunge; it's a fun read as the protagonist lives a very well-off, downtown life (he lives in a loft at the Harbour Steps, eats at all the best places, etc).
