Netflix has it available on DVD and via streaming.

2000 Commemorative Edition DVD is at the Seattle Public Library but it looks like all copies are out right now.

I've seen the first two - good choices - Stephen King knows it horrors - I seen bits of 28 days later - may give it another go since you recommended it after the first two choices. cheers lol

The Shinning is definitate Stanley Kubric at his best. Though the movie is based upon Stephen King's novel of the same name, Kubric made enough changes that King disowns this version. He later made his own mini-series at the actual hotel that inspired the novel and though a little hoaky at the end, it's more faithful to the book. Except for the final scene, which was unnecessarily upbeat. (PS: You can find this three disc mini-series on Amazon and ebay without trouble.)

OMG, rent,buy or steal "Wait Until Dark".
The original is far superior to the remake, although it is a bit dated in styles of clothing and technology nowadays. But it will scare the crap out of you and you won't be able to settle down after the last ten minutes. My Most Highest Rating for this classic stage play coverted to a movie!!!

I watched the trailer- it didn't look particulary scary - but it's been mentioned a few times so I think I should give it a go

OMG, it is terribly atmospheric and will have you on the edge of your seat the deeper into the movie you go. It's a real creeper that will disturb you no end. I watched it in the drive in in the early 1970s and was fascinated that it's a suspense, horror, mystery that defies solution. But you'll be good and shocked by the time you get to the ending. It makes some sense when you realize what's been going on behind the main plot. CAUTION: It's slow and methodical. And you may often wonder what's going on.

i seen bits- it does look freaky - unfortuntely I watched "the best scary moments" and that was on there- pretty sure it was the end scene- still i'm intrigued!!! so trying to get hold of this one

I just watched repulsion last night - good film but I din't find it scary. But glad I watched it as it was interesting- so (apart from the landlord who tries) is she actually raped or is that part of her imagination

It's a portrait, really, of a woman - who is androphobic - having a complete crack-up. She's held in check, of sorts, when her sister is around, but when her sister leaves on vacation, and she's left on her own, her paranoia runs rampant. The attack is imaginary, but very real to her.

So glad you liked the film. It was quite shocking in its day - played mostly in art houses (and a few drive-ins) and one had to seek it out. This was, of course, before Rosemary's Baby and Polanski was yet to make his name in Hollywood although he was much heralded in Europe after Cul-de-Sac and Knife in the Water.

He also made another European paranoid/nightmarish film after his American success - which you may have seen - called The Tenant involving a man (Polanski himself) who starts to see some pretty puzzling things in an Parisian apartment building he's moved into. A critical and box office bomb at the time, it's kind of a cult film now, and I think a restored DVD has recently been re-issued.
