Should I upgrade to Snow Leopard and iLife '11?

My Mac currently runs on Tiger and uses iLife '08. I've heard good things about Snow Leopard, but terrible things about iLife '11. Also, can I just upgrade to Snow Leopard and still run iLife '08?

you might want to hold off until summer 2011 when Apple will release their next OS (Lion)? It should be a pretty big jump from Snow Leopard, primarily adding a Mac app store like on their iphone and ipad.

I pondered upgrading to Leopard from Tiger at the point that it came out and decided that my current machine works quite well just as it is.

I would suggest reading thoroughly through the Apple website archives about your model of Mac and also talking to the folks at the Genius Bar at an Apple store about the pros and cons of changing before you do so. It is possible that the parameters of your older Mac will not well support the features and demands of the newer system

The most important decision here is in changing the version of MacOS you want to use and then the version of iLife possibilities will follow that course.

I upgraded my old Mac powerbook to Snowleopard and really regretted it. It ran a lot slower and there was little benefit.
