What are some good podcasts for a looooong drive?

I need something to keep me engaged and awake. The longer the podcast, the better. I've loaded up plenty of Democracy Now, WTF w/ Marc Maron, Savage Love, Risk!, and a couple randoms.

Any other suggestions? Extra points for something obscure but brilliant (a good science-y podcast? Some comic genius?).

Thank you.

I just drove to AZ and back with a ton of podcasts so I am all over this!

I love Too Beautiful to Live (tbtl.net). If you're not familiar, it originally was a local radio show that moved to podcast. I don't know how to describe it except to say that if you are a Gen Xer it will be probably be fun to listen to. Light-hearted and chatty fun.

Slate's Political Gabfest is great, too. On the Media has become a little grating of late, but I still like the content.

I also have found that PBS's audio versions of Frontline are extremely compelling and you don't miss the visual component. I listed to "The Confessions" on the ride and was riveted.

60 Minutes also offers an audio version of the show. They do not do as much as Frontline with doing audio titles, etc., but you can usually get the gist.

Also, you can download free audiobooks in the podcast section of iTunes from Librivox. (Mainly classics.)

I second This American Life, Radiolab & TBTL. A few others that are great: Stuff You Should Know, All Songs Considered, A.V. Talk (from the A.V. Club) and NPR does some great live concerts. All these are free.

Doug Loves Movies is one of my favorites. It's Doug Benson and 2-3 guests (usually other somewhat well known comedians but sometimes actors/directors) talking about movies and playing games.

NPR's planet money podcast is decent.

You can get previous episodes of This American Life to take with you, as well as Wait Wait Don't Tell Me.

I'll throw one out for Sklarbro Country, which is theoretically about sports (they cover a lot of ground) but the Sklar Bros. are so hilarious it's worth it even if you're not into the subject matter.

KCRW's morning becomes eclectic has some good live performances.

Chris Hardwick hosts the Nerdist podcast, which can be kind of hit and miss, depending on the guest.

Finally, Kevin Pollak's Chat Show for the long-form interview. Those are available in both audio and video format.

WNYC RadioLab is awesome, and has most of its past catalog available on iTunes - both one-hour radio shows and the shorter 15 min. podcasts. You will learn about science and your mind will be blown.

A number of good NPR and PRI radio shows are available as podcasts. I would recommend "This American Life", "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me", "Fresh Air", and the music/interview show from L.A., "Morning Becomes Eclectic". You can see the full NPR list here: http://www.npr.org/rss/podcast/podcast_directory.php?type=topic&id=-1 .

    And PRI: http://www.pri.org/pri-podcasts.html

I've heard good things about Radiolab.

    via the wikipedia:

Radiolab is a radio program produced by WNYC, a public radio station in New York City, and broadcast on public radio stations in the United States. The show is nationally syndicated and is available as a podcast.

Hosted by Jad Abumrad and Robert Krulwich, the show focuses on topics of a scientific and philosophical nature. The show attempts to approach broad, difficult topics such as "time" and "morality" in an accessible and light-hearted manner and with a distinctive audio production style.

Radiolab received a 2007 National Academies Communication Award "for their imaginative use of radio to make science accessible to broad audiences."[1]

TEDtalks are the best! They are free, & available in either video or audio-only podcasts.

Greg Proops' "Smartest Man in the World" podcast is comic genius. He goes solo, though, and each podcast approaches one hour in length.

Second-ing (or greater) all of the suggestions made below... and guessing now you'll not only listen to them while driving, but at work too.
Unless you are a long-haul trucker, in which case...

Wait a minute... While I have previously endorsed Radio Lab here on Questionland and continue to do so, why has no one mentioned Filmspotting?

For anyone who loves film their archive of podcasts (310 +) will be the best thing ever.

    I'll take that mushroom now.
