Where to get a suit for my wedding?

I'm in the market for a fitted suit for my wedding this summer. I'm no Gob Bluth, but I would like something nice that will last me through my friends inevitable weddings over the next few years.

I've heard that it can sometimes be easier to get a suit custom-tailored, but i've never done this type of shopping before. Anyone know any good starting places? I need top down eventually, suit, shirt, tie and shoes. My goal is less than a grand with some slight stretch room if it's worth it.

There are several good options depending on how much you want to spend.

Nordstrom’s Downtown Seattle Store (if you aren't in Seattle any Nordstrom near you will do). They have a great selection of suits and their tailors have always done me right in the alteration department. You should be able to get a good suit there for $1000 or less.

Another good, but pricey option is Brooks Brothers. I bought a few shirts there years ago and remember the service and talioring to be excellent. You might be able to get a good suit there for $1000 or less.

If you are looking for a good quality with a wider range of prices you might go to a Men's Warehouse. Yes, the ads are cheesy but they carry quality brands and again have great tailors. You can definitely get a good suit there for $1000 or less, and they often have 2-for-1 sales.

If you are in Seattle there a couple custom men's clothiers in Belltown. I can't remember their names but they are both on 1st Ave.

Marios in downtown Seattle is fantastic. They're pricey but they might have something fabulous on sale. They'll definitely have the most stylish suits. They also have a Hugo Boss store, which you should definitely check out.

If those fail, head to Nordstrom, and you might even want to try Nordstrom Rack. If you're the right size you might be able to score decent finds for a lot less.

Everyone here has great recommendations. One place you will see a real difference is tailoring. If you are not built like a Russian supermodel, you need tailoring. This is where Marios really makes a difference. They will rebuild your suit so that it looks like it was made for you. What nordroms does is fine if you just need your pants shortened. Otherwise, go to marios.

Call right away and find out about upcoming sales. (it may be the winter sale right now) and buy when its cheaper. I try to stay in the Boss department both for price and style. You should be able to get a more stylish suit than at nordstrom, for not much more. It is your wedding, after all. No one under the age of 60 should be married in a brooks brothers suit.
