Top Ten Toys in Greenwood is the bee's knees. No toy guns, light on fiddly plastic crap, lots and lots of imaginative and creative toys for all ages. On 85th just west of Greenwood Ave, behind Bartell's, across the street from Fred Meyer.

Top Ten is great, but I try to shop at Izilla. It's family-owned and operated and the staff is MUCH friendlier and more responsive - when I've wanted something that's not in stock, at Izilla they will special order it for you and then email or call you when it comes in. At Top Ten, the staff just kind of shrugs and gives your the phone number for the buyer, which isn't very good customer service.

Also, Izilla has Allowance Day, when kids spending their own allowance get 15% off.

I second the recommendations for Top Ten Toys and Magic Mouse Toys. Clover is another cool toy store, although smaller than the others.

    Teaching Toys
located in the Proctor District of Tacoma (corner of Proctor and N. 27th St.

Small toy stores that have lasted are generally very good. They have proved themselves, develop a dedicated clientel and don't have the space to waste on poor quality products.

Teaching Toys (as many do) offers free gift wrapping.

Magic Mouse Toys in Pioneer Square is another good independent toy store.

Seattle is also blessed with several great game stores:
Blue Highways Games on Queen Anne
Gary's Games and Hobbies in Greenwood
    Greenlake Games
Gamma Ray Games on Capital Hill

Most of these shops have areas where you can play games for free. I haven't been to all of them, but so far Blue Highways is my favorite place to hang out and play games.
