Can you reccomend music featuring guitar(s) and loop pedal(s) exclusively (or almost exclusively)?

i moved into an apartment recently (lived in houses forever) and have missed playing my electric guitar loudly, out of courtesy to the neighbors. i know there's a lot i can do w/ headphones, loop pedals, etc., but b/c a lot of the music i tend to listen to features some of the neat sounds that occur when an electric guitar is played loudly (feedback, clipping, distortion, etc.), i want to get inspired w/ loopy musical sounds before i invest in gear to play music i'm not even sure if i'd like. thanks!

There is a local guy in Seattle who records under the name The Sight Below that I've really been digging lately. Its close to stars of the lid and other ambient music but with more of a shoegaze vibe. This track always blow my mind:

Its basically just the same simple guitar part looped over and over with increasing amounts of reverb and feedback...simple but effective. Though his previous albums had more keyboards and drum machines, his latest one, It Falls Apart, is mostly guitar...

Emeralds, and their guitar player Mark McGuire's solo stuff, is mostly very clean looped guitar that is layered until it becomes a giant drone...

Masterati is a recently defunct band that features layered looped guitars with hard driving rhythm section... a lot heavier than most of the other looped guitar stuff that's been recommend. Easily one of the best live bands I have ever seen.

Early examples of looped guitar that I really like are Ash Ra Tempel's Inventions for the Electric Guitar and the Brian Eno/ Robert Fripp collaborations (which is the first example of live looping that I'm aware of).

I am done nerding out now....

John Frusciante - Niandra Lades & Usually Just a T-shirt LP. Dirty, trippy, unfinished and raw, but a whole lot of looping and mainly guitar-based throughout the album.
Especially track 6 (Running Away Into You)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-J6n8gLgig
You'll need to search for the MP3's though since the album's out of print and the tape costs a small fortune now.

Also the track "Going Inside" from his To Record Only Water LP, and basically all his song contributions to the Brown Bunny soundtrack. (All much easier to find than Niandra and mostly a whole lot cleaner too).

    Also:
T-Rex - Cosmic Dancer, off of the Electric Warrior album, and lots of Hendrix, of course.

Anything Oren Ambarchi does will fit that bill perfectly.

There's also a guy named Aki Onda that performs with 4 delay/loop pedals, 4 walkmen, and a shitload of cassette tapes he's acquired over the years (if you go to his website he has a lot of his stuff for free).

You may also want to check out "Flood", "Cloud Chamber", and "Sun Baked Snow Cave (w/Merzbow)" by the Japanese band Boris.

Other people that use loops regularly who are worth checking out (though they may not rely on them quite so heavily):

    Explosions in the Sky

    Mono

    Mogwai

    Kinski (locals!)

Stars of the Lid (can't recommend highly enough)

    Velvet Cacoon

Looping software/pedals are an extremely powerful, versatile, tool. If you're looking for droney stuff, you may also want to look into Buddha Machines - well worth the 20 bucks.

    Happy looping!
