Favourite knitting patterns, general or hat?

I recently picked up knitting again after a couple years of dormancy. I finally got myself to do something other than a scarf, and realized the awesome quasi-instant-gratification value of hats. Now I'm really looking forward to my next project. I just need to figure out what that would be.

Fellow knitters, two questions:

1. Do you have favourite pattern websites (e.g. Knitty)? I'd like a curated site -- not just giant infodump databases, say -- with photos of finished products.

2. Or a favourite hat pattern that I can sink my needles into?

I vastly prefer wearing berets, and I'm not scared of cables. My new hat is the Brambles beret from Knitty, to give you an idea:

I liked this one because while the result is pretty photogenic, the repeats were simple and easily memorized by a novice knitter. I also LOVED having the choice of making different sizes and lengths (e.g. beanie/beret/giant tam), but this is optional.

I'm also thinking of knitting a hat for my BF, so beanies with structured/architectural patterns would be of strong interest too (if you know him, think Brooklyn Tweed).

Thanks!

Oh god- join Ravelry immediately! It's the most comprehensive pattern database on the planet, complete with user forums and finished object areas. I recommend Koolhaus as a Brooklyn Tweed pattern, if you haven't made it already. Anne Hanson (my favorite pattern designer ever) has some amazing hat patterns too at Knitspot.com.

    Check this one out: http://knitty.com/ISSUEsummer09/PATTtrilobite.php

I'll confess that I haven't made it yet because I'm all hung up on fingerless gloves. Lookit! http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer06/PATTknucks.html

    Now THAT's knittin'!

By the by, have you tried felting? This hat is simply fabulous: http://www.straw.com/cpy/patterns/iceland-fizzstardust-feltedhat.html
