Can anyone recommend some quiet shipping tape?

I work in a small lab. We send out materials daily, so the shriek of the tape gun is pretty aggravating. Does there exist a tape you've used that A) is more tolerable and B) is available locally?
I googled this and found a product at Office Depot but it's no longer available.

    There's some beige-colored Japanese packaging tape at Daiso (like a Japanese dollar store) across from Uwajimaya that's pretty quiet. It's a nice packaging tape in terms of being durable and relatively quiet (and cheap at $1.50 a roll); the only downside is that nothing sticks to the topside of it well, including itself, so you can't do double layers of it very well. It might only be labeled in Japanese at the store, so if you're interested let me know and maybe I can take a picture or something.

    As a bonus, this is a family-owned company (Uline is actually an adaption of their name (Uihlein). I used to use them all the time wqhen I worked in shipping/receiving.

    This is the more environmentally friendly route, and I promise, it's totally silent.

    You need water to seal it (just run the gluey side across a wet sponge), but it works great. I'm pretty sure it's only available at Staples -- I needed some for a project a few weeks ago, and couldn't find it at Office Depot.
