  3 0 A cool part of weddings these days is the anything goes mentality. Why don't you ferment some kim-chee and give it away or if that is too hardcore then make some jam and hand label. The mother of one of our grooms collected broken and homeless costume jewelery earrings throughout thrift stores in her native Wisconsin, broke off the backs, hot-glued on a magnet, put them on a card and then stuck a washer to the back to make absolutely stunning (and non-hole-making) lapel pins for each and every guest. Give away some seeds! Make moo cards of pictures of you and all of your guests. Favors can even be totally free: Hand write a favorite memory of every guest and leave it on their place-setting. They were DELICIOUS and amazing (recipe is in Martha Stewart's cookbook), but dipping them in chocolate was a serious pain in the ass. And then my mom wanted them put in little jewelery boxes...for 150 people. That was love, I tell you. In the future, I would just wrap them in little squares of parchment (which you can buy pre-cut), and hand them out in little goodie bags. Because seriously, they were delicious. It was our way of infusing a little of Seattle into the celebration and help keep them up partying with us all night. Cheap (esp if you buy the ingredients at Cash N Carry!) and you can have a party with some friends to package them all up. If I had more time, I would have bagged them up with a tea candle and a little pic of us. Get some bulk candy or nuts from a big box store, then colored cellophane (in your wedding colors) or tulle, cut in pieces, tie with a pretty ribbon or two (in your wedding colors) and TADA! For the artwork, use a cool picture of yourself and list all the songs. We did this for our wedding and six years later people are still listening to it. Most people will be listening to it after the wedding, and it should remind them of you two and make them smile.
