Is it just me, or is food here really salty?

Greetings Questionlanders!

I recently moved here from the Southwest and I'm a self proclaimed foodie. I have noticed that at many high rated American/French restaurants here, I find the food unbearably salty. Other than the salt, the food is usually perfect in every other respect.

At first, I sent back the food, now I'm wondering if this is normal here, or perhaps back where I'm from different herbs and flavors are used and I'm just not used to it yet.

Any ideas? Am I just a salt wimp? Am I going crazy?

I don't know if you want to name names.

Maybe check out the yelp for said high rated American/French restaurants. Maybe they're not so high end?

I don't eat out that much. Just offering this comment as a suggestion of sleuthing.

I'm fairly anti-salt myself, to the extent that I hardly ever enjoy pretzels, but I've never noticed a problem here. I am curious which places you're talking about.

Hmm. I hadn't noticed. Maybe coincidence? Or maybe it's just the dishes you're ordering? I don't seem to get too salty food in restaurants. But, hey, we both must have small sample sizes.
