Where did Robert Palmer spring from, and ultimately, what did he die of?

Robert Palmer scored such a splash with that music video of girl models in the black dresses and high heels.

But I had the impression that he's been around the music scene before that big hit "addicted to love".

But then suddenly, I had heard that he was dead.
What happened? What's the real deal?

he was born in Malta. came out of the british r&b scene in the '70s after leaving Vinegar Joe, and had some middling album sales. hit the jackpot with 'addicted to love'. died of a heart attack in paris in 2003. had a GREAT voice.

This seems like the perfect opportunity to spread the word about the drink I invented.

    The Robert Palmer:
    1 part lemonade
    1 part Sweet Tea Vodka

    Serve on the rocks.

It was of shame. Pure shame that he had spent an entire hard-working career on keeping R&B real in albums like "Double Fun", but nobody noticed or cared much about him until he put on a suit outa Miami Vice and made that stupid video.

He had lots of great songs before Addicted to Love!

His early hits were Every Kinda People (if you like Mercy Mercy Me you might like this one) and Bad Case of Loving You, which was huge and had a harder rock sound.

I think his new wave stuff is the most interesting. Check out Johnny and Mary, and Looking for Clues. Then he hooked up with some of the guys from Duran Duran to create The Power Station. They did a great cover of T Rex's Bang a Gong, and Some Like it Hot was pretty good, too.

Those are the big ones I can think of (or remember well enough to Google, anyway).

I was shocked when he died; he was still really young. R.I.P, Robert Palmer!
