What is the best alternative to Quicken for the mac?

I recently started a new job which required me to register as a business with the state. My business is a simple sole proprietorship, and I've created a separate bank account for my business. My business is quite simple- I'm a software developer working as a contractor. I bill for my hours and get a check every couple weeks, and want to deduct some business-related expenses. I was going to get Quicken, but they offer fewer features to Mac users, and the reviews I've read imply that Mac users generally don't like them. Is there a good alternative?

Yes, Quicken for Mac leaves much to be desired. SEEFinance has been commented on favorably on a few financial forums I frequent, in addition to Moneydance or iBank.

    Correct, avoid Quicken.

Your best bets for a desktop-based application are Moneydance or iBank. You should compare the features of both and see which one feels the best. Good luck.

Quicken is Intuit's solution for personal finance. For business, they offer QuickBooks. I use it at on a PC at work and on a Mac at home for my contract jobs, and I have no complaints about it.

I've never used any of these personally but this looks like a good start:
