What is that kind of clay-like stuff called that you can use to make little jewelry charms, beads or whatever? It comes in all sorts of colors...

I am not sure if you bake it or not. I think it comes in little squares of color.

You're thinking of Fimo, or plastic/polymer modelling clay.

I haven't decided exactly yet. I've never worked with sculpey or fimo, so I thought I'd get some and try it out. I want to make some cute little things...like maybe little sculptures of kitties and cupcakes and then maybe attach them to a necklace or just have them up on a shelf. :)

Oooh. That sounds like fun. I've honestly never used either Sculpey or Fimo, but I loved working with ceramic clay when I took a class years ago.

If you end up playing with the clay and like it, I'd suggest you try out some of the available glazes and powders for jazzing up your creations- they really add another level of cuteness to the type of items I imagine you're talking about, and the glazes will protect your creations from scratches and such.

Thanks for all the help you guys! I couldn't really find Fimo at first, so I've tried sculpey. In case you are interested, here is one of the first things I've made with the sculpey! :)

The non-bake stuff is called Sculpey.

Actually, you CAN bake it, you just don't necessarily HAVE to.

so, they stink up the kitchen when they bake? will the hood above the oven work well enough? I had no idea they were stinky! oy!

I've used Fimo a ton and never had a problem with odor while baking, and I am extremely sensitive to smell because of my migraines.
