Just moved to the 15th Ave area in Capitol Hill. Food/Restaurant recommendations?

I just moved to the 15th ave area of Capitol Hill. I'm not at all familiar with the area. I'm in the middle of starting a new job and unpacking, so I don't have a lot of time to walk around and explore. What do you recommend for restaurants up here? How about take-out or delivery?

On 15th, Smith serves good burgers and beers and that's about it. Hopvine Pub serves good pub grub. Remedy Teas, as the name suggests is a tea joint. They also serve tiny tasty finger sandwiches. North Hill Bakery for desserts is worth the extra trip.

Volunteer Park Cafe on 17th and Monsoon on 19th are just off the East Capitol Hill retail core on 15th Avenue East but worth the trip.

Anchovies & Olives, Spinasse, Marjorie, Tavern Law, Quinn's, Cafe Presee and Lark are around the Pike-Pine corridor not far from East Capitol Hill.

Check out the places that are starred over here! We have been obsessively updating our listings. Off the top of my head, Smith on 15th has been good lately; go to Monsoon for dim sum/other awesome brunch and lunch; Liberty for great cocktails and decent sushi; Cafe Presse = love; Chungee's for good, fresh Chinese (take out or in their weird tiny dining room or bar); Quinn's; Elliott Bay Cafe; Big Mario's for a slice and a beer; Pike Street Fish Fry; Unicorn for brunch...

Jamjuree for Thai. I love their Spicy Noodle, Pad See Ewe, Fried Rice and Panang Red Curry. Not so much their Phad Thai or Soups.

The Vegetarian Teapot on the corner of 15th and Harrison is a good place for Chinese style vegetarian food. It's kosher too!

I'd also recommend strolling down to Broadway and then over (North) to Roy where you'll find Jo Bar for just the most delicious coffee and crepes.

    Welcome to the neighborhood.

One more vote for North Hill Bakery:
Their cake is fucking addictive. They must mix crack into their buttercream.

And I'm poor, so most of the following recommendations have a budget in mind:

I also second Cafe Presse. Cheap French food. Amazing deal for the price.

Kingfish Cafe on 19th. Great upscale Southern cooking if you want to spend a bit more $$ than Presse. Don't go for breakfast though. Blahh. Their lunch and dinner menus are fantastic.

Liberty does have some delicious, creative sushi rolls at 1 a.m. (which you won't find anywhere else that late) but Hana on Broadway's the best sushi bargain on the hill. Some of their single sushi selections are still $1, which is basically unheard of.

Guanaco's Tacos, in the same plaza as Hana. Great Salvadorian food that fills you up for under $10.

    You asked about delivery though.
India Express on Broadway. Sounds like a hole-in-the-wall but really good for the price (cheap) -

Palermo has great and fast delivery. It's a friendly, family run place. Home made lentil soup for lunch is a must - get a bowl and you are full and happy. Mini Pizza is a single serving pizza that is an excellent deal.

    Directly on 15th:
Costal Kitchen - Never eaten dinner there, because its kind of expensive, but their brunch is amazing. One of my favorites in the city.
+1 for Teapot vegetarian. I've never actually sat down to eat there, but have gotten takeout a number of times. Its really good. Even if you're not a vegetarian.
I'm not into Smith, but it seems like everyone else is.
Olympia Pizza is pretty ok too for takeout.
Canterbury - good neighborhood dive bar.

    Welcome to the neighborhood!

Loads of good spots, marjorie would be up at the top of the list. Their burrata is pretty amazing with a generous heap of chiffonade so thin it could be green angel's hair.
