Best beef chow fun in Seattle?

In Chicago there is a Cantonese restaurant with the best beef satay chow fun I have ever had in my life. The noodles are almost an inch think, the beef is meaty, and it is so greasy and savory that I think they have one dedicated wok just for that dish.

Chicago is far away and Seattle leaves much to be desired in regards to Chinese food, but I need something to scratch my beef chow fun itch. Or I will die.

Don't die. I can help you.

Get thee to Hing Loon. It's a totally delightful Chinese restaurant in the ID, keepin' it real, dishing up chow fun and other great dishes.

I grew up in Chicago and crave that style of Chinese food every now and again. You might also be wondering where the hell you're gonna get a real egg roll or some god-damn egg foo young, right? Right?

For this, you can go to the Little Shanghai above the QFC on Broadway and Pike. It's a hole in the wall, and not all their food is great, but it will surely scratch your itch.

Now, if only someone could open up one of those stands that sells hot dogs, gyros AND Italian beef...and deep dish pizza! Christ, would it KILL Seattle to have some deep dish?

First, anyone who would compare Chicago's chinese food to Seattle's has a serious credibility gap. Would you take seriously someone who said they couldn't get a good steak in Chicago like they could in Seattle?

Also, if there is a satay on it, it ain't real chow fun.

    That being said, Hing Loon.

I've got to say, this chow fun question is really important. I used to try the chow fun everywhere: beef, chicken, bbq pork, etc. It always verged on terrible. I gave up. It was good in L.A., good in Vancouver, but never in Seattle. For a time Wild Ginger had an excellent mixed seafood chow fun. But it was quite pricey and how often can you go there? So, I hope you find it and shout about it from the top of Smith Tower, because I've failed. (You can buy the fresh noodles around town and some cookbooks, like Pei Mei, have recipes. There's that route) I don't think I've been to Hing Loon, but I'll try it.

I'm a huge fan of beef chow fun too but whenever I want it I actually hit up Rom Mai Thai, a Thai restaurant on Broadway. There they call it Pad See Ew, but it's the pretty much the same as cho fun, just less greasy. I highly recommend it. It's seriously the best non-chow-fun I've ever had.

Have you tried the beef chow fun at Red Lantern in the I.D.? I haven't had it there, but everything else is magically delicious in a way that makes me think they wouldn't fuck this up. I, too, am a chow fun fanatic and have been disappointed many times... Go and let me know!
