Is there any place in Seattle (or north of Seattle) to get authentic Okanomiyaki?

I've had it at Boom Noodle and I really like it, but a friend tells me that there are okanomiyaki restaurants in Japan where you can pick your ingredients and it's cooked in front of you - that sounds awesome!

Boom's okonomiyaki is bad. Real bad. Once you've had the real stuff you'll see why.

Daimonji down in Georgetown is the only place I know of that has honest to God true okonomiyaki. They've changed owners recently, so I'm not sure if it's still available. Kushibar also has it, but it's a little different.

Last time my wife and I were in Tokyo (April 2010), we went to Chibo in Ebisu. It's an okonomiyaki place on the 38th floor of the Ebisu Garden Place tower overlooking the city. I've been to other okonomiyaki joints in Japan, but the view at this one was the big winner.

Some things are better left in their natural habitat. Okanomiyaki is such a local Osaka-area dish, like taco balls, that it's better to be there while eating it. The grill-it-yourself places are super fun, but with all the liability lawyers we have in the US, I would be surprised if we can even do that here.

Kushibar in Belltown is the closest I've had in seattle, but its not 100% authentic. It may be close enough to scratch that particular itch, though. I've not been do Daimonji because I've heard really mixed things about them.

I agree with the other poster about Boom Noodle. It's horrible. What you had there wasn't okonomiyaki.
