Where can you rent a telescope in Seattle?

A friend wants to do some astral photography in Eastern Washington this weekend but can't seem to find anyone online. Can Questionland help?

I give Metsker Maps a call and ask if they have any ideas. http://www.metskers.com/

The equipment to do astrophotography is insanely delicate and expensive. It's not something you can rent, anywhere.

Astrophotography is as much art as is it is technical and the dedication to doing it requires having your own gear. It's not like skiing or rock climbing where you can move between different gear sets with minimal adjustment.

Bare minimum for astrophotography would be a 6" Newtonian reflector capable of prime focus, a big burly EQ mount, a T-ring, and an SLR camera. That'd probably be $2k, at least. Sure you can just mount a camera on an EQ mount and get some great shots of the stars, or even just stick the camera on a regular tripod for star-track shots, but I assume you're talking about pictures of DSOs and planets and the moon and whatnot.

The best approach to astrophotography is to get the good old classic astrophotography telescope: the 8" Schmidt-Cassigran. With that you can mount an SLR or one of the many CCD systems designed specifically for astrophotography. You're still talking a few thousand dollars.
