any panelists for the rasmuson foundation want to admit and discuss their involvement in selecting Alaskan artists for grants and fellowships?

Rasmuson Foundation in Anchorage has a generous grant and fellowship program for Alaskans, who are selected by un-named Seattle experts who are unknown to us. Does anyone there know more about who has served, and is there anyone in Seattle who can name an important Alaskan artist?

Where are you getting this notion of "un-named Seattle experts"? The Rasmuson Foundation is in Anchorage, AK. If you look on their website (http://www.rasmuson.org) you'll see everything you need to know about applying for an Individual Artist Award there. Here's the page from their FAQ: http://www.rasmuson.org/FAQ/index.php?switch=view_homepage&ifaqcategoryid=2

As to whether anyone in Seattle knows anything about Alaskan art, I'm quite certain you will find as much expertise here as anywhere in the world -- there is Alaskan art at the SAM, at the Frye, and at a number of downtown galleries, like the Stonington. I have no idea if they serve on a Rasmuson panel or not. I wouldn't be surprised; "Rasmuson Foundation staff receives recommendations through a vast network of colleagues throughout the United States and Canada."
