Is there a better burger place than Dick's?

I come from the land of beef. I have been looking for a burger for a week now. I found a place called Dick's. it was ok but not great. Is there anything better around here? Looking for bacon and malts. Please help.

My favorite is Red Mill Burgers on Phinney Ridge in Seattle. They have some cool out of the box burgers (red onion jam--mmm...)and yes on bacon and malts.

I am late to discovering Zippy Burgers in West Seattle (in Delridge area); closer to White Center than West Seattle proper). Love them!

I know there are a lot of Dick's loyal fans out there. Must be because they always look busy when I drive by. But for me it ranks at the bottom of the non-chain burger places. I wonder if nostalgia has something to do with its popularity. Can't figure it out.

BTW Zippy's is not a gourmet burger, unlike Red Mill. Zippys is inexpensive, burger size is generous. Bacon and malts? Check, check.

My partner votes for Kidds. Not on my list, but now you have a 2-in-1 POV :-)

For a basic, non-gourmet burger under $5, it's hard to beat Red Mill (they also have a location in Interbay/lower Magnioia). They are famous for theri bacon, and their shakes are first rate (not sure if they do malts). For gourmet burgers ($6 and up) Lunchbox Lab is good. I very much like the burgers at Uneeda Burger on Fremont Ave (and they usually have a Waygu beef patty option as well). The Counter was, to my mind, a train wreck. They give you a billion options, but no narrative thread. Same with the decor. It lacked a soul. That being said, if you got a cheeseburger to go, maybe it would taste good.

    Uneeda Burger on Fremont
Lunchbox Lab in S. Lake Union

they should both have what you're looking for.

Dick's is a Seattle institution, but you're right—the burgers are flat and sometimes a tiny bit gristly. (Don't get me wrong, I love Dick's for what it is, and even if you hate Dick's, Dick's still loves you, and doesn't care if you use it in the middle of the night and deny it later.)

Here are my recommendations for better burgers—some basic, some fancy, all available with bacon (and probably malts)! More info on all these over here.

    BuiltBurger
    Burgermaster
    The Counter
    Five Guys Burgers and Fries
    King's Hardware
    Loretta's
    Lunchbox Laboratory
    Red Mill Burgers
    Skillet and Skillet Diner
    Uneeda Burger
Zippy's (in the process of moving might still be closed, call ahead!)

The best burger I have had in Seattle has been at the Pig and Whistle in Greenwood. Unfortunately, it's kind of hit or miss there though. Sometimes they are so good they make you want to cry, other times there are just good. The garlic fries and sweet potato fries are the bomb as well.

I'm a big fan of Blue Moon. Big, tough to finish, nice toppings, and not incredibly pricey.

Red Mill is very, very, very good.

For really super-specialty burgers, I suggest Lunchbox Laboratory, which has some really unusual types of meat, loads of odd sauces and cheeses, and bacon. Beware that if you order Bacon at Lunchbox, you'll get a huge heap of it. Lunchbox also has amazing shakes and killer mac'n'cheese, fries and tater tots.

Zesto in Ballard, right by Ballard High School, is pretty tasty. The Godfather burger is huge and very good.
