Can one donate contact lenses? (Unused, unopened)

Drop boxes to donate old prescription glasses are prevalent, which is great. But is there a similar type of program for contact lenses?

However, my contact lens prescription seems to change (get worse) every few years, and I always end up with a few months worth of unopened, unused contact lenses. It seems so wasteful just to throw them away, as these puppies ain't cheap. But I've never heard of any way to donate them. It may be impractical because there are so many prescription variables, and they do eventually expire. But they're good for at least another year, and I was thinking maybe there's some low-income program that supplies contacts to people in need. *shrug*

Anyone heard of such a thing?

I haven't heard of any such program. I'm not certain, but I believe that the eye doctor actually measures your eyeballs for contacts that specifically fit you, so even if another person has the same prescription, they wouldn't be quite right.
