wireless headphone interference

I thought I had this bright idea of getting wireless headphones for work. But I work in a hospital, there is always this steady ticking noise. The headphones have 3 channels, it happens on all three.

I remember back during a road trip we were looking at how to improve our iTrip reception. We saw mods that lengthened a wire to increase the signal strength. Would this sort of option be available to me?
