An apron for a large person?

I'm planning to get an apron for my acquaintance as a thank you gift. She's a large person ( I guess she must be somewhere around 250lbs~270lbs ?)and all the aprons I looked at and liked to get her looked to be for a regular size person, but the description says they'd fit for most people. I know it's rather rude to ask this... but I wonder if anyone knows someone who couldn't fit into a normal apron, or it just didn't look right on the person because of the size?

As a bigger person, most aprons still tend to fit...the only concern is long enough strings to wrap all the way around and tie in the back. I'd suggest shopping in person, rather than online. Try the apron on yourself and see if you can wrap the strings all the way around to the front and still tie them. If you can, then your larger friend should probably be able to tie them in the back. While the apron fabric may not cover my entire front, it covers most of it, and as long as I can tie it, I consider it to "fit" me.

But as stated below, some of the shops do specifically carry larger aprons, as well. Good luck, and sounds like a nice gift.

If you're still concerned about it (and we all carry our weight/size differently), you could always purchase from a physical store and ask for a gift receipt. That way, your friend has the option to return/exchange the apron, if it's not a size with which they feel comfortable.

Also if you find a fabulous apron that has short strings you could have a quick DIY project and make them longer yourself. Or better yet, you could probably find a pattern to sew an apron yourself and just make it a little bigger. The handmade gift would be more meaningful and would also be sure to fit! Good luck finding a good one :)

Yes, I agree with Tracy M.

As long as the strings to tie can fit it should be okay. What is really great about a lot of aprons is that they make the strings long enough to double around smaller people, so they will normally fit for larger sized folks. Just don't buy an apron that has short strings.

I'm a larger person and I've been able to buy off the rack aprons with no problem, so you should be okay.
