What should I do on Capitol Hill INSTEAD of going to the Block Party?

So I've gone to the CHBP for the last 6 years running, and was typically looking forward to going again. Then I saw the line up and was underwhelmed, then saw the prices and was overwhelmed. Something strange has happened: either I have become too cool for the block party, or the block party has become too cool for me. Either way, I don't think I can make our relationship last another summer. It's time to call it quits.

However, that's no reason to not go to the hill, get drunk, and see some bands. Are there any other shows going on outside of the gates worth going to? Thanks for any and all recommendations!!

    Great question and I'm sure some other bands and venues will be very happy to see you that weekend. I would just look at the Stranger listings to figure out where to go. Here's Saturday in Cap Hill
