Is there a place to rent a pickup truck for camping?

I'm planning a camping trip with some buddies on a BPL site in Eastern Oregon. None of us have that rugged a vehicle and ideally we'd pack it in with a pickup truck.

While they rent pickup trucks at places like Enterprise, I kind of doubt if they'd want me to return it all scratched up from the dirt and rock roads there.

My question is, is there any place that rents pickup trucks which are already beat up so that they wouldn't mind getting it back even more beat up?

    Is "BPL" bonneville powerline?

Rent a wreck, Handy Andy, Penske - all maybes that will tag you for damages and mileage.
If you need a camping truck, why not rent a camper or winnebago??
If you need an offroader, rent a jeep or 4x4 - maybe from Express4x4truckrental.com

But if you need a truck you can just beat the shit out of, buy one from craigslist, dude: much easier and likely cheaper:

    I mean, here's a mazda 4x4 for only $1500, with a new engine!

What you need is to rent a pickup truck from an industrial equipment rental shop. No rental company is going to be hunky-dory with you beating the shit out of their pickup truck and returning it scratched to bits, but a construction rental place will rent you a heavier duty rig that will put up with abuse better.

Hertz Equipment Rental rents 4-Wheel-Drive 1/2 ton pickups for $135/day or $430/week for standard cab, $140/day or $475/week for 1/2 ton, 4WD super cab rigs. That's more what you're probably looking for.

Word to the wise: I've done a lot of off-road driving in my day, the most common big-ticket visibile damage item that will make life shitty for you out there on the trails is paint scratching from vegetation alongside trails. If you have the chance to crawl up a rockfield or a meadow instead of a narrow bush or tree-lined trail, do it. You get a couple headlight-to-taillight scratches in the paint of a rental truck, you're gonna have problems.

Try Handy Andy. Their trucks come pre-beat up. You may also look into the optional insurance.

Like they say, "nothing handles better off road than somebody else's truck". Or maybe I just say that.

You're gonna get fucked on mileage, though.

A better solution may be to rent the biggest passenger vehicle they have at Enterprise with a Amercian Express Card. Contact Amex if you have the card and sign up for their rental car insurance program. It is cheap.

Uh, what exactly are you planning to do with this truck? Just driving on a dirt road is not going to to cause any damage a carwash won't fix. If you're that worried about it, pay the extra $5 for the damage coverage.
