Is it better to get 8 hours of sleep or to wake up between sleep cycles? It's my first question and it's super boring! But I've been wondering about this and thought Questionland may hold the answer.... I keep hearing about this "bedtime calculator" called sleepyti.me (that's the url). According to its theories, waking up "in the middle of a sleep cycle" causes you to feel tired and groggy. And according to its calculations, a solid 8-hour night puts you right in the middle of one of these things. To wake up between cycles you'd have to sleep 7.5 hours or 9 (or some other 90 minute interval). So, question 1: Fact or crap? Question 2: If it is fact, is going down to 7.5 from the conventionally recommended 8 a good idea or will I lose in overall sleep health what I gain in decreased temporary grogginess? |
