I like Ro-Ro's BBQ on Stoneway in Fremont in a pinch- not too expensive and great flavour.

It's not american barbeque but everyone should go down to check out Kau Kau in the ID. Their barbeque pork is delish and the pork back is incredible. Salty, tender on one side, crackle crunchy on the other. They have a restaurant but you can order all sorts of meat at the front little foyer/deli(ish) counter.

There is a neat little place in greenwood where Greenwood, Holman and 105th meet. It's just behind the jiffy lube and shares the parking lot with snoose junction pizza. I think it's called Texas BBQ or something. The sauce is OK, but they do a great job with the meat.

I also like Pig Iron on 1st Ave S. in Georgetown. Dry rub meats with a nice variety of sauces. Sweet tea, sweet potato fries, pecan pie, corn bred and all sorts of other trimmings.

R&L Home of Good Barbecue on yesler is very popular.

I don't know about the rest of their stuff but Smoking Pete's on 65th St and I think 20th Ave. in Ballard has the most amazing ribs. Even my husband thinks they are the best in Seattle and he grew up in Kansas City so he knows a few things about BBQ. We also like Stan's in Issaquah.

Before the inevitable dry vs. sauce argument ensues, let me throw out a further query. Is there any BBQ place that consistently serves its meat HOT, as in temperature hot?

There is just nothing worse than ordering up some delicious meat and being served something luke warm out of a steam table. Good BBQ must show some relation to the actual cooking process; it must be fresh and HOT.

(I like it DRY, by the way... central Texas-style.)
