Why does the lightrail often smell like a horse stable?

After normal run time, they often use the light rail cars to bring horses from the Port of Seattle to Emerald Downs racetrack in Auburn. Metro attendants try to sweep out the cars before service resumes at 5am, but often there is hay under the seats.

It's public transportation. The bus smells the same way sometimes.

    Such is life.

I've wondered the same thing... It's almost a leather lime smell. But it's not every train. Weird. I'll ask my boyfriend.
