What is going on with the terrible burning rubber / diesel engine smell on Cap Hill for the past few days?!

I live on 13th and Pine and for the past three days now if I open a door or window I am hit with an awful stench that's something like burning rubber and/or a diesel engine. I cant see the source of it anywhere.. maybe my downstairs neighbors started running a meth lab, or the fire station across the street started running a meth lab, or... ? Anyone have any ideas? What do I do? It's driving me crazy!

They're doing SOMETHING on the roof of the Seattle Academy on 15th. Probably tarring...

Smells to me like someone is pouring tar on roofs. Cap Hill has a lot of old flat roofs that need to be tarred. This is a good time of year to do it in Seattle.

They're doing some major construction at the Jewish thingy next to Madison market on 16th and Pine. Maybe that's it?

You know, I was walking around yesterday and noticed that too. I think I was on 14th and E. Union.

    No clue what it is.

Pollution from the Light Rail tunneling, perhaps?
