Will I be able to stream netflix and other video if I use CenturyLink (fka Qwest)?

I'm going through my semi-annual rage against Comcast tradition and would love to dump the mother fucker already. But I am accustomed to reasonably fast Netflix streaming and downloading content speeds afforded by the cable connection. Would CenturyLink be able to give me a comparable experience? I would save a ton of $ going with them and Direct TV.

On a slightly different note, when will Seattle get fiber optic cable for crying out loud. I've got friends in Deadwood Oregon population 13 that have fiber optics. WTF? I'd even pony up several hundred dollars to see it done.

thanks

I manage fine, and I pay for the second-to-slowest CenturyLink option.

Hulu used to play pretty choppy on my DVD player, but I recently switched to a Roku, and it streams like a dream.

The Netflix and er, Linux ISO torrenting speed on Qwest is perfectly fine.

It's no Comcast, but it's more than serviceable. Much better than Broadstripe.

I've been using Clear wimax for 4 years now.

The first two years were choppy, but in the last two years I've been able to stream Netflix fine even during prime time.

We stream Netflix on the roku and computers ok with Qwest DSL (7mbps), though sometimes it gets glitchy. I think it might be our old wireless router, but my SO thinks it's something about living in West Seattle. I sometimes have problems streaming radio.

Also, our DSL got cut off for a few hours once because Qwest said they traced an illegal download to our IP - supposedly they sent us an email but we never got it. Qwest turned it back on after a phone call, and the little pirate in our house is more careful now.
