  4 0 The media isn't the problem, it's the consumption. Unplug. I have for years now. Watching the planes hit on internet and cable, again & again, is watching a faces of death murder over and over -- it's not healthy. So unplug for a while. It'll take more than a day. Start now and come back sept 13 or so. Enjoy September in nature, with family, using a landline phone, avoiding TV and newspapers too. It doesn't hurt, I swear. The first time I wanted to claw my own eyes out and stick ice picks in my ears to avoid the news. I never thought I'd look back fondly at the the Iran-Contra hearings, or been jealous of my parents and older siblings because they only had to deal with nightly news of the Viet Nam war and Watergate. I spent that summer back at home after a long absence with extended never-before-experienced discussions with my mother (because I was now an adult) about family history and her life as we tiled floors in the house and the Watergate hearings were on in the background.
