yoga studio recommendations?

Hi there. Read a lot on Yelp, but at least in this category, am beginning to think many of their reviewers are confused, crazy, or just plain lying. Yes, much of life is subjective, but c'mon already. Examples posted regarding same studio during same few weeks:

All of their instructors are required to be certified. --vs.-- Hardly any of their instructors are certified.
One of the best-smelling studios in Seattle! --vs.-- The whole place reeks of mold and mildew.

Just can't parse it all. Thought I might do better here. :)

Possibly helpful about me:

- totally new to yoga - need someplace friendly to the clueless
- not at all a "hippie" or terribly "spiritual," but generally not bothered by other personality choices along those lines
- was considering hot yoga because I heard it's best for developing better flexibility (which I need), but am open to other possibilities
- live in North Seattle / Greenwood, so local to that would be great, but open to anything in the greater metro, especially if parking is available
- am sensitive to strong odor. A strong mildew smell would make me nauseous, so . . . best avoid that for everyone's sake.

So, would appreciate any recommendations, particularly info about why that place over others. Thanks!

p.s. I did do a search before I posted, but most of the similar Q&As were from a long time ago, and I've noticed a number of new places lately.

"Read a lot on Yelp, but at least in this category, am beginning to think many of their reviewers are confused, crazy, or just plain lying"

Possibly all of the above with any review site, but yoga tends to be fairly subjective in what you get out of it. If you don't push yourself, the instructors aren't going to force you like a personal trainer would.

I would definitely sample classes from studios in your area (don't worry too much about being stuck with them, you should be able to finagle a free class) and get recommendations from friends, see which you work out best with.

"- am sensitive to strong odor. A strong mildew smell would make me nauseous, so . . . best avoid that for everyone's sake."

This should be fairly obvious, the wide variation in reviews from the same studio might just be from people who bring in their dirty towels, mats, and gym clothes.
