  3 0 No, I don't mind your asking, since I opened the door some weeks ago. I hesitated to respond, as this is a public forum instead of a private e-mail, and I almost deleted the question... but then I thought, the hell with hiding mental illness in the shadows. People NEED to know that it's present and the LOTS of familes are forced to deal with it. So, to answer your question, the family member is not currently on Haldol, but instead returned to Resperdol (sp?) which has worked! Unfortunate side effect is tremors, but they have asked for something to help deal with those awful tremors,and the doctor has agreed to adjust with something else. (Sorry I'm vague here, I wasn't present for the discussion...just third hand info to relay.) I would argue that the DRAMATIC improvement from Resperdol is absolutely worth the price of tremors. It's good to get my family member back from the brink, even if it means the sacrifice of enduring constant tremors. Hopefully, others will benefit from our discussion here.... In our case, the disturbed sibling was trying to live in low-income housing with thin walls, and heard every thump and crash from the apartment above. This meant their sleep was constantly being disrupted by everything from a broom being dropped, to a toddler falling over, to doors closing, etc. Quality sleep helps all people, not just in mental health and stability.
