Are you upset that the UARS satellite may have fallen to Earth near Seattle?

While originally projected to fall between Peru and Newfoundland, the final estimate of the bus-sized 6 ton satellite was stretching in a syne wave from Africa, through the Indian Ocean, across Austrailia, up the pacific, and then turning east across Seattle and BC area.

While scientists believe it fell into the Pacific Ocean, safely, some amateur astronomers in San Diego believe they have captured footage of it breaking up as it passed by their vanage point. Considering that the satellite orbited the Earth once every 90 minutes or so, do you think it might have reached Seattle?

And how do you feel about such a large object dropping out of the sky near your home, despite NASA's best guess?

Sorta. I'm more upset that we're so flippant about uncontrolled littering of a bus sized piece of junk. The fact it could kill people sucks too.

Also, doesn't it take considerable expense and technology to PREVENT the space shuttle and capsules from burning up? Why doesn't this thing burn up -- did we accidently make it out of ceramic re-entry tiles?

Strictly playing the odds, you ought to be much more worried about getting killed on your daily commute than by an object from the sky landing on you.
