What do I do about a Craigslist scammer?

I posted an ad on Craigslist to sell a musical instrument, worth a couple of hundred bucks. I got a response right away from someone who asked when they could come see it, and asked for my address. They didn't name the item for sale specifically, they just referred to "the item." I initially responded by sending my phone number and asking them to call me to set up an appointment. I got subsequent messages obviously fishing for personal info. The letter writer claimed to be speech disabled, and asked for my home address and hours when I would be home. In another message, they claimed to be going on a business trip to another city, and said they urgently needed the "item" and wanted it shipped to them, and asked for a bunch of personal info from me.

Should I just flag this on CL, or should I report it to the cops? Anything else I should do that I haven't thought of?

Flag and post a scam warning (either in for sale or rants&raves) as well.

Then, tell the speech disabled buyer your name is Jim Pugel (or -if you like- John Diaz) and tell them your address is
    610 5th Avenue,
    Seattle, WA 98124-4986.
and the best time to come by is Monday morning after 10am and if they come in person they can have the "Item" for half off.

I don't think the police can do anything. These scammers are very good at hiding their true identities. Flagging on craigslist is probably the best you can do. Sorry.
