We need new gutters. Got an estimate from Gutter King already but want some other suggestions. Who does the best for less?

I used Better Built Gutters a couple of years ago. It is (or at least was) a father and son team. They were priced right, and had no problem dealing with some of our tricky downspout issues. They did some work for my neighbor too.

They've also got a 5-star rating on Service Magic, so it appears other agree with me.

No specific recommendations, just general "hiring a contractor" advice.

Check the Better Business Bureau. http://alaskaoregonwesternwashington.bbb.org/ Not only will this tell you their rating and complaints, but if you do business with an accredited member, then that business has already agreed to use BBB's arbitration, should there be an issue later. They've also got a directory of accredited businesses, by category. http://www.bbb.org/western-washington/accredited-business-directory

Also, check with the state to make sure they are licensed and paying their l&i insurance, etc. The website's pretty slick, here you can look them up by business name, by owner name, and you can also click a link to verify their insurance, etc http://lni.wa.gov/TradesLicensing/Contractors/HireCon/

And then, of course, there is Angie's List, but you need to be a paying member to read their reviews. The nice thing, at least, is that they verify everything, so it's harder for a business to "pad" their reviews with fakes (whereas looking at reviews on superpages.com, yp.com, yelp.com, dexknows.com comes with the knowledge that this could be fake accounts).

Get a contract in writing. Also, feel free to ask for references. Any reputable contractor should be happy to provide you with contact info from 2 or 3 previous customers. Good luck!
