iPhone 4S - Verizon or AT&T?

I want to get an iPhone 4s - seems like a great device and I am ready to make the change. I don't want Sprint. I hear mixed reviews about AT&T and nothing about Verizon. Any recommendations?

Well the one thing you can do on AT&T that you can't on Verizon is surf the web while you're on the phone, due primarily to the difference in network architecture (CDMA vs. GSM). GSM technology also technically allows for faster speeds, but because AT&T has had a three year lead on iphone sales, the network is essentially being throttled by all the traffic, particularly in tech dense areas like San Francisco and New York City. Thus Verizon's network, at least in those areas for sure, may feel a bit faster. They do have more coverage. I'm not a fan of their tiered data plan, but AT&T now has a similar option so it's kind of moot ( I'm grandfathered into unlimited data with AT&T regardless). Additionally, the 4S has a dual antenna system, making it a more viable option if you're ever off the continent (wasn't the case previously).

So really, it's more about personal preference. The only two differences are network coverage (though AT&T has been building out more antennas in the area lately) and the not being able to surf and call thing on Verizon's cellular network (wifi is a different story). Given all of that, I'd check on price point and go from there.

Their prices and service are about the same. If I wasn't on AT&T I'd be on Verizon as their coverage is superior.
