Sometime it Feels Like the Person I'm Talking to Doesn't ExistI have a recurring thought that people I'm talking to don't exist. That they're only in my head and I'm talking to myself. Sometimes this can cause me anxiety and paranoia. Once or twice I needed to exit a situation because it was so intense (in one case the person actually seemed to understand and was supportive even though I hadn't explained other than saying I needed to go outside). The experience is different at times. Sometimes I'll be talking to someone and they will begin to look more like me or a family member. Their features will be very familiar in a strange way. Lately people have been feeding into this with statements they make. For example, a particular person I know who I've had this experience with (and I don't think I've ever mentioned this to him) saw something in my room the other day and made a statement something like, "yup, I guess we really are the same person". Another friend knows about this and has made some statements to corroborate it. I have other forms of paranoia, but I've never been diagnosed with anything or taken any medications and lead a basically normal life. I'm in my early thirties. I'm wondering if anyone else has heard of or had such experiences or knows anything about this sort of thing...? |
