Personal/grown-up gift for digital artist/nerd boyfriend

Oh man.

He works in CG effects. Likes: Star Trek/Wars, tanks, military history, Pixar, all matter of video games. Italian food, though he's not a connoisseur. Some hobby photography.

In the past, I've gotten him indie nerdy t-shirts, books on digital art. I knit him hats all the time, so that's out. No sweaters -- don't want to go down that curs'd road.

I can fall back on some nerdy merch, but this year I want to get him something more personal or more useful but a little more grown-up. Some bum ideas:

1. A monogrammed leather journal, except he really wouldn't use it much.
2. A Kindle as I got one this year from my brother and loved it, but I don't know much about the new one (and I'm in Canada so availability is limited) and my BF has no credit card so it may be frustrating for him to buy books easily.
3. He really needs a bag but it's not something I can buy for him as he's very particular :| Ditto wallet. He has one he loves that he put through the wash and I can't afford to replace it, unfortunately.

We don't tend to spend a lot -- $50-70, tops. Low-key. I wouldn't mind bumping it up to $100.

Danke.

Prob out of your price range but reload does custom bags with kick ass embrordery I know the Seattle faction closed their storefront but you can get them online from the Philly faction. I think it's reloadbags.com. That way you can get the most appropriate size and add extra pockets for gadgets and such. Ithe super big bags are a bit awkward so I'd suggest mid size or small. If he's a biker you can add extra straps/ tie downs etc. Depending on how crazy you go with the design you might wanna do a birthday/ Xmas combo as it's prob gonna run 100-200
