Why did my skin clear up when I was sick?

I was recently sick w/ a bad cold and I was a disaster for 2 solid days, anyway, but sub-par for like a week. No fever, but it started with a sore throat and led to coughing, sneezing, etc. On the upside, my skin looked awesome! I have no idea what affected my skin to clear up and take on such a glow of healthiness. I am a person with not-too-great skin. For a few days I had an enviable complexion, it was like a miracle I tell you! Except, it seems that this happens every time I get sick-- so maybe every 2 or 3 years.. and, I always sort of notice it and go, "Hmmm. That's weird & glorious," and then dismiss it. What gives? I want my sickface back!

Oh, and I had to work half-days so I wasn't entirely stress-free and relaxing. Nor was I drinking fluids like I should have been, I drink a lot of water anyway and I drank only as much as usual and I felt dehydrated (sadly). Took Theraflu before bed a couple of nights but otherwise no meds. Ate the same as usual, I think. I dunno??

Theraflu contains pseudoephedrine (a decongestant). I don't know what skin condition you have exactly, but the decongestant could be reducing the swelling that comes with acne.

I've never taken Theraflu, but I hear it's not the kind of thing you want to be downing every day. I know there are topical decongestants for noses, so maybe there's something out there for faces.

I'm not a dermatologist, but I bet one would be able to point you in the right direction.

    This is just a guess...

It could be because your white blood cells are busy fighting off the infection and aren't causing irritation on your face. I believe white blood cells are involved in pustules.

I have heard testosterone drops when you are sick. Testosterone is involved with acne creation.

These are just guesses from what I think I know. I would love to get some feedback from everyone else.

Maybe it was your diet? Did you eat less fatty/buttery food? Or less sweets?

I notice when I have a larger than average amount of fatty foods or desserts, I start to break out. But when I am sick, I have no stomach for sweets and I eat almost entirely healthy, light food.
