Blog doesn't show up on search engines?

I started a blog a few days ago just for killing time, so I'm not promoting it or anything. But I searched it on Google out of curiosity, and nothing showed up. I tried different keywords and still it doesn't show up. It did show up only when I quoted my blog name on Google search. but a normal keyword search doesn't seem to be working. Just for the sake of it, I added my blog URL to those major search engines' lists, but it still doesn't show up. I'm just curious why?

I'd also give it a little time. Google doesn't re-index every site at every moment (so changing your keywords won't bring about instantaneous results). If you've got other blogger friends, outside links to your site will push you up in the rankings. Suggest a link swap.

Perhaps the site hosting your blog, or your own software if you're hosting your own blog, has blocked web crawlers in whole or in part?

Yeah, I've done this "submit URL" thing a couple of days ago, but nothing has changed. Well, it's alright if my blog's not on the search engine, really. - who wants to read about my life anyways!! I was just curious about it as this is the first time I'm writing a blog. Thanks for replying to my question!

If it's the same with websites give it a few weeks, the little web bots take a bit to crawl around and start putting stuff in searches. When I resaofnws my website a few years ago I was stupid and put my stuff in new folders. It took about a month before my old pages to be replaced and the links went to the new pages instead of the old ones

Two questions: which keywords were you using, and were you looking well beyond the first page of results? Companies pay a great deal of money to make sure that their sites show up on the first page of a search for common keywords. A personal blog will probably not show up in the first page of results unless it's unusually popular or the topic is very obscure.

I do remember an option in blogspot settings for making your site searchable on Google, and I believe the default position was off. If you poke around in your blog's settings, you should be able to turn it on. That could be part of what's presenting your site from showing up even though you've submitted it to various search engines.
