Are there any Community Supported Fisheries (CSF) active in the Puget Sound region?

Like the CSA model, these arrangements help secure a cost effective pipeline for regular purchase of perishable local seafood from the active fisherman through a vendor or store to the consumer. Consumers get fresh product and vendors don't wind up with the loss due to spoilage from less than ideal sales levels.

At this time, there are no active CSF in the area. There have been a few attempts to start one, but were not successful. I know that other areas in the US have successful CSFs, but unfortunately none around the Puget Sound region. Shopping at your local farmers markets are your best choice, with the Ballard, University District, and West Seattle markets operating year round.

We have a native alaskan fellow in my neighborhood that sells his catch to folks that know him. We're in greenwood. He's just pops by once in a while and I give him $20-$50 and he gives me ridiculous amounts of halibut, salmon and shrimp.

I head down to the Loki on the West Wall at Fisherman't Terminal once in a while. Not CSF but Pete is real charecter and it is family biz as far as I know. http://lokifish.com/index.php

The last CSA I knew of that failed was "Sea Monster" started by a very well meaning if a bit flighty fisherman fellow but he wound up on "get jesse" for not delivering.
