Have You Ever Experienced the "Seattle Dump" ?

This one is hard to express, but sometimes, you go into a grocery store, or a coffee house or a sandwich shop, and you're just quietly happy, not making noise, just looking forward to your eat or drink and when you get to the counter, you get the "Seattle Dump". It's like the person just unloads with some "knowing" comment, that makes you feel as if all the guilt in the world were on your shoulders. Certainly, it's way out of proportion for the simple act of purchasing a foodstuff under $10.

Meet perceived adversity or even just poor manners with a smile, a kind word or compliment, wish them well and change that person's day. You could be the agent of change for everyone else that person meets all day!

For just a moment there I was going to answer "Yes, I have visited both the north and south transfer stations. There's a long wait on weekends, especially in the summer. It smells like sour milk and inspires cynical reflections on the waste generated by our society" but then I realised that's not what you were talking about.
