How do I get a roll of quarters?

After switching from WaMu-cum-Chase to BECU, I realized that I have always gotten rolls of quarters by going to my bank. What's the easiest way to get a roll of quarters without having a bank account?

And yes, BECU does have two locations that handle cash (near Boeing's two main facilities), but I would prefer something closer to downtown.

The customer service desk at the QFC on Broadway gives quarters, as does the customer service desk at the Safeway on 15th. Most grocery stores will give quarters or rolls of quarters at the customer service desk, and if they don't (i.e. the Safeway on 23rd), they usually have a quarters machine (and if it only takes $1 bills, they'll be willing to give you a wad of $1 bills).

So basically, go be polite to any grocery store clerk on a weekday and you can get a roll of quarters-- if not from your checker, than from the customer service desk.

God, won't most banks give you a roll of quarters for ten bucks without asking to see your account number? Just walk into any bank and ask.

I was a cashier a few months ago at QFC. I gave rolls of quarters out a few times a week.

My advice: just ask nicely, and don't ask right before closing time, since the tills are counted / don't have any more rolls of quarters. Also, don't get more than one at a time, since the store really doesn't want to run out of change.

I know that you can make deposits & withdrawals at other credit unions through the co-op shared branch network - find the closest one by searching for shared branch locations on the BECU website, then make a withdrawal and ask for quarters.

Also cashiers at the bigger grocery stores will sometimes give you a roll of quarters as cash back on your debit card purchase if you ask nicely - either in line or at the customer service desk.

Moneytree at 3rd & Pine cheerfully sells me a roll of quarters every month. They are very nice.

Why don't you go to the BECU branch downtown, at 2nd and Pike?

Well, I could make a crack about dancing for quarters and dollars at a poll dance bar... but that would be crude.

I vote for just walking into a bank with a crisp $20 and an ID to swap. They might swipe the bill with a marker to confirm that it's valid, but most bank and credit unions will do this. Especially if you've done it before there.
