What do I call my brother's wife's brother?

My brother married a terrifying human being who has a terrifying brother. I'm scared about what sort of new relations. What do I call that person? He's not my brother-in-law is he?

Your sister-in-law's brother, of course. Or "asshole", if you prefer.

there's no kinship term in english for that relationship. "brother-in-law" seems reasonable, and while not exactly accurate, at least it emphasizes that he's not blood kin.

That's funny, because I would have assumed that the correct term WOULD have been brother-in-law, even though you're not technically "married" to him...

My brother's brother-in-law would be a more correct description.

As for what you call him, how about "Sir"?

(all kidding aside, I agree that his first name might be best... unless you really detest him and want to communicate that...) Ouch!

PS: In what way are these two newcomers to your extended family "terrifying?" Just cause they took your brother away? Or is there something more insidious going on here?

You don't have to deal with this person at all. It's his problem.

    mbwb
    my brother's wifes brother
    or
    msilb
    my sis-in-laws brother

    or
    thb
    terrifying human being

or just call him by his name, just make sure he is on your side, then he won't be so terrifying anymore.
