I think it's still the classic "next step" after college that will never go away. That, and they magically met an older guy who they decided was their security, and how could they pass that up in such an uncertain time - and because "*all* my other friends are getting married so now I have to, too!"? Personally, I think it's a stupid move and most will divorce by the time I'll be beginning my first marriage in 10 years, but who knows. I know how you feel though. It's weird.

More than that- I've noticed that all of the people I know who got married right after high school are now getting divorced. It seems to then phase into all of the people who are just now getting married- but there are a LOT.

I'm in a relationship with someone who wants to marry me. IN A REALLY LONG TIME FROM NOW. Thank god.

It is such a huge fad now. My friend was just in town from Chicago and reports that everyone she knows is getting married too. Even people that weren't living together! Everybody in their mid-20's. I can't imagine what they're thinking.

It hasn't hit New York yet; I guess not all the fads start here.

It's a big fucking mistake. They'll figure that out later, it will cost them a lot of money, and emotional distress. Been there, done that.

They're prettier than you and were able to land a husband.
