  1 1 I have a cat who goes outdoors. And while I agree that cats should stay inside, my cat disagrees with this by yowling and peeing on things, so outside he goes during the day. Ballard and Fremont are nice neighborhoods. You can find an apartment further away from major intersections and there are more yards for your cat to crap in.   1 1 There were a lot of free range cats on Queen Anne when I lived there and I didn't see as many missing cat signs as I see on Capitol Hill.   0 1 I live in the CD (not too close to MLK or 23rd) and my cats have been outdoor cats for about roughly 13 years with no drama. I have counted about 4 dead birds and about 36 dead rats in those years, which to me is an acceptable ratio. Nothing like the smell of a dead rat in the morning! I lived in Greenwood, the no-sidewalk part of it, for a little while and it seemed pretty good for cats, too.   0 3 I second that the cat is more important than the neighborhood. If your cat has any wits, then it can survive on a busy street. If your cat isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, then it can get run over in a cul-de-sac. Other than that, it would be nice if you had a yard.   6 10 I would recommend any place with heavy traffic like near Aurora Ave. Seriously, you should keep your cat indoors or you will be another person who ends up feeding one of our local coyotes.
