What are the best song(s) to listen to while running/jogging?

And please note: I'm not a big fan of electronic music.

Primal Scream's "XTRMNTR". The whole album seems custom made specifically to run your ass off to. There's even a cool down song right when you need it ("Keep Your Dreams").

Whatever your high school comfort food was, especially if you have albums that you loved front-to-back. You'll follow along with the songs, passively sing along to them, and find time melting away as a result. That's more useful than getting "pumped" with music when you're dealing with monotonous, long-distance cardio.

I must not think while jogging, I must be totally distracted my the underlying primal beat of the music. It must motivate me. So, I suppose it really depends on what your motivation is.
I like songs that start out with a definite beat and then work into something more complex. Oh say "In da club" or the Engineer's Anti-gravity remix of "Blue Light."
OR if you're on a machine...you can read! I discovered the elliptical + suspense books = the best workout ever! You can channel your natural adrenaline of excitement/terror into a better workout. (Sorry - tangent!)
Also, soundtracks. Pick an action, suspense or moody movie and you can probably come up with a good handful of songs if not an entire album. The Matrix Soundtrack? Excellent.
Sadly, the pop pseudo rap of the 90s like The Real McCoy are amusingly distracting and upbeat. Snaps's Ryhthm is a Dancer, anyone? haha

Episodes of This American Life are amazing for running (although they have very little music). The story lines take my focus off of going no where on the treadmill.

    Muse does it for me!

Especially the album "Origin of Symmetry"

Muse songs usually have a good beat without being too electronic.

i guess it's kind of sometimes electronic - but i love running to Girl Talk. Night Ripper is their latest. It's great for those of us who get bored while exercising.

Why don't you try it without any music at all? I don't run very well when I'm not paying attention to the actual running--I get more out of my runs when I have to pay closer attention to myself, and it lets me think more clearly, too.

I've discovered that for me, music while I'm running really doesn't cut it. It's too easy to stop thinking about the music and focus on how much my lungs hurt, how tired my legs are, how much longer I have to go, etc. I've been listening to podcasts and while the first mile still sucks, the rest of the run is pretty enjoyable. The trick for me is to pick something that I can lose my head in so I'm not thinking about running anymore. Audiobooks can also be really good.

I've been listening to Ra Ra Riot. Mostly upbeat, poppy shit that helps you zone out and get IN DA MOOD

Justice's newest album is usually what I play when I'm at the gym. It helps me keep a good pace when I'm on the treadmill, and the tempo changes from song-to-song help me push myself a bit harder.

Propagandhi or Rage Against The Machine's second album should get you all the way to Motherfucking Blaine.

Ever since the invention of the bicycle, I don't run anymore, but I recall listening to a lot of At the Drive-in when I did. Currently, my favorite biking music is probably the new Whitest Boy Alive album, though - groovy enough to pump you up, but also groovy enough so that you feel like you look sexy while you're sweaty and disgusting.

Cheeseball heavy metal is way more fun while you're running.

    Repo Man sound track.
    Fear of a black planet.
    Orqestra Reve.
    In that order.

Aphex Twin's come to daddy is the best jogging song ever. Perhaps it may even transcend your aversion to the electroniQ

Dandy Warhol's Get off is great as well
